    Thank you Casey. Should user study – the part you go observe what users do in person and ask them what is causing the confusion- take place before the feature is fully built for UX research purpose or after it’s built, released and tested so it’s used to understand the reasons behind the test results?

    A. Prototype -> User study -> development -> testing
    B. Development -> testing -> user study

    Research should ideally be involved at every part of the process: beginning phase of understanding the problem, wireframes/prototypes and after it’s built. Depending on the biggest risks to the project succeeding or failing, you may skip some of these, so as not to slow down overall development.
